Carmilla Sumantry is an interdisciplinary creative based in Vancouver, Canada. With a career that began in industrial design, she now focuses on 3D art, animation, and creative technology. Her work—described as “surrealist dream states, translations of escapism, and visions of alternate realities”—explores the nuances of human interaction with digital media through an existential lens.
Thematically, Carmilla emphasizes the importance of nuance and diversity in an increasingly divided world, examining how digital technology shapes social and psychological experiences. Her work encourages reflection on the intersection of the digital, physical, and spiritual realms, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with technology and the natural world.
Her practice spans digital collectibles to immersive experiences, with work showcased internationally at venues like Gallery TPW, Superchief Gallery, a Wonderfruit stage, and NFT.NYC's Times Square billboard. She has collaborated with clients including Starbucks, Crown Royal, 604 Records, and The Boston Globe.
As Co-Founder and Art Director of Chroma Link Collective, Carmilla creates immersive, interactive installations that leverage emerging creative technologies to foster connection, wonder, and joy.
